During the school year, the da Vinci Primary School's staff established long range school improvement goals that would enhance the pursuit of student success. These goals were developed using a site-based management style with input from parents and students at each meeting. The plan will be in place for school years 2003-2008.

IMPROVEMENT OBJECTIVE

Align curriculum in four core areas with the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks.

Improve Reading comprehension in the areas of Reading, Science and Social Studies

Instruct students to use a variety of methods to solve mathematical problems, be fluent in basic math facts and to communicate mathematical understanding.

ACTION PLAN

Ongoing curriculum reviews occur on a regular basis, as staff continue to refine the building’s curriculum map and identify skills for mastery learning. Teachers serve on committees to evaluate curricular offerings, recommend necessary changes, assess students regarding those offerings and are actively involved in all academic decisions regarding the da Vinci Primary School.
