The core curriculum may be defined as those educational outcomes which are fundamental for all students to learn as they progress through school toward effective, satisfying lives as citizens, family members, workers and thoughtful participants of our global and multicultural society. The following content areas are taught, either through classroom teachers or K-12 staff: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, Music Education, Arts Education and Technology.

All curriculum is aligned with Michigan Curriculum Frameworks and we are in the process of identifying Essential Skills from the overall curriculum map. Substantial time and energy has been spent, and will continue to be spent, on identifying and creating those core academic skills that are deemed to be the most crucial to future student success.

Because of the small class sizes at The da Vinci Primary School, we are often able to devote more time to students with special needs than would be possible in a traditional setting. Our belief that given the desire, any student can learn, is also a healthy contributor to the success of those students. Some students with special needs are serviced by a Teacher Consultant, and other support staff, from the Jackson County Intermediate School District, on a weekly basis. During the school year, 17 special needs students thrived in our Helping Room with the of our full time Special Needs Teacher.
